-I'm looking to begin playing guitar. First, I need to buy a guitar. I plan to just fool around with it and perhaps use it in small group settings. Ideally, I would like to spend less than $200, but if a guitar is really worth it, I will pay a little more. What are your recommendations?
Thanks!Brands you can trust in your price range: Yamaha, Alvarez, Epiphone, Washburn (there are others I'm sure but these are ones with which I am familiar. BTW, anyone who says this one or that one is the best, are just "Fanboys" every real guitar player knows that it doesn't work like that)
Find one with a solid top (at least). A solid top will give it better tone, resonation, and volume.
Play them all in your price range. Why? because it will help you get a better grasp on what YOU like, not someone else. Afterall, its your money, and you will be playing it.
Pick the one you like best, considering aesthetic (looks) last. Why? Because we play guitars for tone and playability, not necessarily for looks. Aesthetic is important, but to true guitar players, not the most important. I would say my priorities are as follows:
1. Tone
2. Playability
3. Brand
4. Aesthetic
I hope this is helpful, and good luck!!I bought my first guitar from a pawn shop. It was used for 150 bucks. I would definitely go for a Gibson or Epiphone guitar. I have a Gibson/Epiphone mixed guitar. Its SICK!!! Don't get a fender guitar, cuz they really suck :/ Fender amps are really good though! if your getting a guitar, get a Epiphone or Gibson, and get a fender amp.
O have a Fender acoustic guitar and I'm a beginner. It's working for me and it has a pretty good sound. Once I get better I want to get a Taylor Guitar but those are really expensive so I have to save up too
Look at Dean and get one with a solid-wood top if you can.
